At Edit Scanned PDF (accessible via https://editscannedpdf.com/), one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy document outlines the types of information that is collected and recorded by Edit Scanned PDF and how we use it.

Unlike traditional cloud-based PDF conversion platforms that upload your sensitive documents to remote servers for processing, Edit Scanned PDF operates primarily as a client-side web application. When you edit, OCR, rotate, stamp, merge, or convert a PDF file on our website, the underlying computation is executed directly inside your local web browser using client-side JavaScript, WebAssembly, and HTML5 Canvas technologies. Your document bytes stay on your machine and are not saved, inspected, or harvested on our web servers.

2. Google AdSense & Advertising Cookies Disclosure

We use third-party advertising companies, including Google LLC, to serve advertisements when you visit our website. Google is a third-party vendor on our site. Google uses cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie and DART cookie, to serve ads to our site visitors based on their visit to Edit Scanned PDF and other websites across the Internet.

• Third-party vendor participation: Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to your website or other websites on the Internet.
• Personalized Advertising: Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visits to Edit Scanned PDF and/or other sites across the World Wide Web.

3. Log Files and Analytics

Edit Scanned PDF follows a standard procedure of utilizing log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. All hosting providers do this as a part of hosting service analytics. The information collected by log files includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users' movement on the website, and gathering demographic information.

We may also use privacy-respecting analytics tools such as Google Analytics 4 (GA4) with IP anonymization to evaluate aggregate traffic metrics (such as page views, popular tools, and browser compatibility).

4. Cookies, Web Beacons, and Local Storage

Functional Local Storage: To provide a seamless user experience, our application may store functional, non-tracking state items in browser localStorage, including isProUser (to remember active Pro status without requiring server tracking) and cookieConsent / consentMode (to record user cookie preferences). These items contain zero document data or personal identifiers.

Like any other website, Edit Scanned PDF uses cookies and browser local storage. These cookies are used to store information including visitors' preferences, recent editor session states (such as active zoom level, selected tool, or language selection), and the pages on the website that the visitor accessed or visited. The information is used to optimize the users' experience by customizing our web page content based on visitors' browser type and/or other information.

5. Document Handling & Zero-Retention Guarantee

User documents are processed strictly in client-side browser memory and are never transmitted to, stored on, or inspected by our servers.

When you select a PDF file, image, or scan using any tool on Edit Scanned PDF:

• The document is read into your browser's local sandbox memory via HTML5 File API and WebAssembly.
• Optical Character Recognition (OCR) tasks run locally via browser-compiled engines (e.g., Tesseract.js / PDF.js).
• We do not transmit your document contents to our database, and we do not retain copies of your documents after you close the browser tab.
• You retain 100% full legal ownership and copyright of all documents and files processed through our service.

6. CCPA Privacy Rights (Do Not Sell My Personal Information)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), among other rights, California consumers have the right to:

• Request that a business that collects a consumer's personal data disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal data that a business has collected about consumers.
• Request that a business delete any personal data about the consumer that a business has collected.
• Request that a business that sells a consumer's personal data, not sell the consumer's personal data. (Note: Edit Scanned PDF does not sell personal data).

7. GDPR Data Protection Rights

We would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Every user is entitled to the following:

• The right to erasure: You have the right to request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions.

8. Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP Act, India) & Identity Masking

In accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) of India:

• Client-Side Processing (No Data Fiduciary Storage): Edit Scanned PDF does not process, store, or index digital personal data contained in your uploaded documents on any remote server. Because file bytes remain strictly within your local browser sandbox, we do not act as a centralized data repository or data fiduciary for your document contents.
• Regulatory Masking Compliance: Our redaction and eraser tools support lawful compliance with UIDAI regulations and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) KYC guidelines regarding the masking of sensitive identifiers (such as redacting the first 8 digits of Aadhaar cards or masking confidential account numbers) before sharing documents with unauthorized third parties.

9. Children's Information (COPPA)

Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their online activity. Edit Scanned PDF does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our website, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will do our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.
